Faith Without Works Is Dead: The Antelope and the Cheetah
To be delivered from evil, the antelope has to RUN.
And to receive his daily bread, the cheetah also has to RUN.
Therefore, as you pray and believe in faith, you must also get up to RUN and ACT in faith. Do not be deceived—there is WORK to do. That is why Scripture declares that faith without works is dead:
“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead… For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” (James 2:17, 26)
The Divine Principle of Action
If the antelope and the cheetah refuse to work after praying, they will both perish because of this divine principle.
- The antelope which prayed to be delivered from evil will die—killed by evil—because it refused to run from evil.
- The cheetah which prayed for daily bread will die—killed by hunger—because it refused to hunt for its daily bread.
Their refusal to act will not change or stop God from being God. In His wisdom and providence, God answered their prayers even before they prayed by equipping them with everything they needed:
- He gave the antelope long, strong legs, agility, and speed.
- He gave the cheetah speed, sharp fangs, and powerful claws.
And while they prayed, He still made a way. But both animals must put what God provided to work!
Put Your Faith to Work
It does not matter what talents, gifts, strength, or potential you have—if you refuse to put them to work after praying, nothing will happen.
Prayer is not a substitute for action; prayer empowers action. God equips you in prayer so that when you rise from your knees, you can step out and execute in faith.
So then: Pray. Believe. Work.
- Have you prayed? RUN!
- Do you truly believe your prayers were heard and answered? RUN!
- Do you believe God has equipped you? RUN!
Step out in faith, put your hands to work, and watch God manifest His power through your active obedience.
Mercy and Truth to you.
